Back For Another Try
We had such a good time fishing last weekend that we decided to go again! This time we went to a lake called Big Meadows and took my brother Clay! He loves to fish and he had a blast...so did Jake and I!!! We had better luck this time. If I remember right Jake caught three fish, Clay caught four, and I caught one! It was the first fish I can remember catching so I was pretty excited. All of the fish we caught were pretty small...but that's better than catching none! We all had a good day and a ton of fun!

First Fishing Trip of the Summer
Jake and I had been wanting to go fishing...we didn't know where to go though so we called my Grandpa Corky and asked him if he had heard of any hot spots! When I called, he told me of a few places and also that he was planning on going fishing the next day too...he invited us to go with him and we took him up! For all who know Grandpa Cork he is one great fisherman! Jake and I were both really excited! We left our house at about 7:30 the next morning and were off for our first fishing trip of the summer. We went up to a place called Shaw Lake first. We had no luck there, so after awhile of trying we decided to go up to Pogue Lake. After a pretty long, bumpy ride, we finally got to the road that lead to Pogue...and it said ROAD CLOSED...the three of us really wanted to go on up so we grabbed our poles and hiked up about 3 miles or so. I was a little worried about Grandpa making it up...but he did with a few stops here and there! When we finally got to the lake we all agreed that we better not get skunked after hiking all the way up. Well...what do you know...we ended up leaving at about 5:30 with only Grandpa catching three tiny fish. The hike back down wasn't as rough for everyone as it was up so that was a plus. Even though Jake and I didn't catch anything it was still a fun day spending time with Grandpa and each other! Catching a few fish would have topped it all off, but being just being outdoors is something we both really enjoy!

2008 NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships
Mt. San Antonio College -- Walnut, California
This was my first outdoor Nationals I have been to and it went pretty well! :) On Thursday, the 22nd of May, I ran the prelim of the steeplechase. It was a crazy day. It was lightening, thundering, and pouring rain like crazy most of the day. The meet kept being postponed. First it was only an hour, then it became two, and then three. So instead of running at 5:50 like I was originally supposed to, it ended up being 8:50. I did end up getting to race though, so that's all that mattered. There were two heats of girls, and the top four placers of each heat and the next four fastest times made it to finals. I was in the 2nd heat so I knew about what kind of time I needed to run in order to make it to finals if I wasn't in the top four. I didn't want to mess with times though so I ended up really kicking it in on the last straightaway and placed 4th in my heat. I ran a PR of 10:47 something...that was about 9 seconds or so better than my best time so I was pretty happy. I made it to finals! I had the next day off (Friday). I did nothing but sit in my hotel room and rest. It was so boring and all I wanted to do was get my race over with. Of course I am not one to just relax and not think about it...I sit and stress about it. Friday came along and it was race day!!! I was excited and ready to go. I knew I had a chance to do well, I just needed to focus and do it! I ended up placing 5th overall and received my second All-American! :)
